In the Spring of 1993, I weighed nearly 400 pounds. I have a naturally large frame and stand 6'3", but I finally got fed up with looking the way I did, so I started lifting weights in an effort to re-sculpt my body. I lifted weights, jumped rope, and started boxing with both a heavy bag and speed bag as my first steps to getting in shape.
I have since extended my training to include anything and everything I can get my hands on. Whether it's taking a hike around San Francisco's hills or beaches, mountain biking, or playing basketball with friends, I reach out toward physical activity to complement my life and to keep me healthy and happy.
There is a vast array of activities to both build muscle on the human body and expand your heart health through cardiovascular workouts.
I lift weights six days a week, concentrating on complimentary muscle groups and limiting the workout to a narrow focus. I started with the typical guy thing of chest and arms and have progressed to know each muscle group expertly. My workouts begin with an intense cardio period which delve into a partitioned workout of muscle groups in cohorts with their counter group...i.e. bicep, triceps, and end with a cool down cardio and stretching to keep the muscles limber and flexible.
I believe training your body begins with your mind and making a commitment to improve yourself, no matter where you begin your quest. It will start slowly, and you will come to know your body, pain, focus and what determination can help you attain. I believe I can help you discover what it takes to get to where you are going, whether it's losing weight or adding muscle to your body. I will focus, as I did on myself, with the mental aspects of the process, which will extend to the kitchen where you prepare your meals as fuel for your body. We will work together to eliminate bad habits, processes and decisions.
You will enter a supportive, yet strict and helpful environment where you learn about the kinesiology of muscle movement, and put that into practice to build a healthier vessel. It starts with the brain, and extends to the nutritious foods you consume, and the inspiration, dedication and desire you will exemplify in your dedicated workouts.
It's about learning about your body, the world around you and experiencing a better life through the care of and improvement to yourself, your body, mind and spirit.
